I believe that it is important to stay informed, keep our spirits up and look for the silver lining. That old saying about fooling some of the people all of the time comes to mind and since all the people cannot be fooled all of the time I am convinced that eventually the world will get back on track.
So eloquently you write the thoughts that have been rattling around my head for the past two years. Without the super stress of COVID applied to the systems, the wide spread awareness of the incompetency and malfeasance didn't reach critical mass for most of us. Now that it's exposed, how do we right the ship? The ship is worth saving. I firmly believe in my core that the intentions of the Founding Fathers were noble and just. The Constitution they crafted is the most enlightened treatise of government ever devised. However, it's been chiseled at by corrupt authoritarians seeking to grab more power at the expense of our freedoms. Thank you for sounding the alarm bells.
As an oef/oif/ond/gwot/blah blah blah combat veteran, down down down the rabbit hole seems abusive and neglectful but somehow homey at this point personally, and the illusions many folks have enjoyed for so long and up through and undoubtedly past present moment seem like the fantasy concepts they are. Evidence is unrecognizable to so many so demoralized. The only thing many will recognize is a boot to their fat bottom once it’s far too late. They’ll come to see it’s easy for oppressors to forget their name, it’s convenient and laughable for oppressors to force miserable work on those who cannot put up resistance. We don’t have to repeat the worst of history, but we do have to make heads roll when it’s hero time and it’s actually on us—we, our, us—the ones we are looking to come save us. Time we showed ourselves and those looking to us our backbone—the best defense, a good offense. Of course we will be ruined but it’ll be a better ruined and we are take what we can get folk, aren’t we all?
