A brief dispatch on whatever the hell is going on right now

I'm not saying it's aliens. Because it's not aliens.

I simply do not believe any of this BS. 

This feels exactly like early Covid theater: these people take themselves so very seriously as political actors, in every sense of the word. They are enchanted by archetype and ritual and it is essential to them that they place themselves at the center of their own grand narrative. The excessive drama paired with the narcissism is always the tell.

At last count, five shoot-downs and/or closed-down airspaces—CNN’s breathless reports that they couldn’t identify a propulsion mechanism!—this doesn’t put me in a place of “tell me what’s going on!” It puts me in a place of “what are you bastards up to.” Whether this is “Project Blue Beam” (or an updated version of it); an effective distraction from the biggest environmental disaster on American soil since the Exxon Valdez (or Seymour Hersh’s exposé, not that they give a shit) or just a slow drip of fear and anxiety to prime the masses for whatever is next…I do not care, and I am not participating. I first joked years ago that a UFO could land on the south lawn of the White House and people are so politically polarized that half the country wouldn’t believe it’s real. Well, count me in that half. When they’re rolling something out with all the intent and gravitas and media cooperation that we’ve been seeing the roll out since BalloonGate, they want us to feel very specific things in very specific ways. They want to evoke specific vulnerabilities. They want us fearful enough that we will let them do whatever it is that they want to do—I don’t know if that involves nukes or CBDCs, or both, or something else, but I trust nothing and believe nothing. 

Fear is the best and most powerful weapon they have. If I were scripting this as high political theater, the kind they love more than anything, I would interrupt the Super Bowl halftime show with the EBS and a gravely delivered statement from the Oval Office (well, the Oval Office soundstage, which is what we usually get.) I don’t actually think they’ll do that, because it’s just so stupidly obvious, but at this point they have a lot of hearts and minds already.

Fear requires your consent. That makes this spiritual. Whether one has such leanings or not—and I do, these days, leanings that have returned to me gradually in the face of incalculable evil over these last three years—there is a battle for your soul afoot, and it begins with your attention. Don’t sell either to the highest bidder.
